*I am not able to offer crisis support. If you are in distress or feel unable to keep yourself safe, immediate help is available through NHS 111 (option 2 for mental health support) or ask for an urgent GP appointment. Or by attending A&E in an emergency. If you are under 19, you can also call 0800 1111 to talk to Childline – the number will not appear on your phone bill. Samaritans are available 24/7 by calling 116 123 for free confidential listening support. You can also access crisis support by texting SHOUT to 85258. If you are already under the care of a mental health team, you may wish to contact them directly for support.

Disclaimer

Any knowledge about plant medicine shared on this website, during foraging walks, or in workshops is for educational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice.

These walks and sessions are designed to introduce you to local plants, explore their historical uses, and celebrate the traditional wisdom that has often been lost over time.

If you want to discuss something specific or get professional guidance, I can provide contact details for experienced medical herbalists across the UK. Your safety is the top priority!

I am not a medical professional, so it is essential that you consult your doctor or another qualified healthcare practitioner before taking any treatments, supplements, or plant-based remedies.

Always make your healthcare provider aware of any medical conditions, medications, supplements, or wild foods you are using.

Please note that Foraging Folklore cannot be held responsible for any direct or indirect, incidental, or consequential effects on health or wellbeing that might arise from information shared here, on workshops, or during courses.

The information I provide comes from my own research, education, and experience. My goal is to offer a starting point for your own exploration. Every person is different, so it’s important to take the time to learn which plants may be suitable for you.

Thank you!

FAQs

✦ How accessible are the walks?
All walks are slow-paced and go at the speed of the group. If you have specific needs—like difficulty on uphill sections—let me know so we can adjust the route. Accessibility can always be accommodated.

✦ Are your events suitable for pregnant people?
Yes! Let me know if you’re pregnant so we can adjust the walk to your pace and ensure safety regarding any plants we encounter. If you prefer an easier route, you can email me at emily.wild@foragingfolklore.co.uk.

✦ Can I get there on public transport?
Most locations are accessible by bus from the town centre. If public transport is tricky, contact me and we’ll try to arrange a car share.

✦ Will there be parking or bike locks?
Parking and bike locking spots are usually available at all meeting points.

✦ Is there time to take notes?
Yes! Feel free to use a notepad for sketches or notes, and photos or filming are welcome.

✦ Are you going to make me eat plants we forage?
I’ll share which plants are edible, common ways to use them, and what they taste like. You can decide if you’d like to taste anything, but there’s no pressure. Walks and workshops focus on engaging all your senses with wild plants - touch, smell, and taste.

✦ Can I bring my dog?
Sure! Please let me know if you’ll be bringing your four-legged friend. Consider your dog’s temperament and how they handle small groups of people.

✦ Are children welcome?
As long as they are accompanied by an adult and under their full responsibility.

✦ How do I stay updated on new events?
Follow me on Instagram and check on here or Eventbrite for my upcoming events.

✦ How do I keep learning?
After events, I’ll send notes/resources to continue learning, and I’m happy to answer any questions or discuss anything you’d like to know more about.
