Seasonal foraging walks…

Book Emily for an autumnal foray, witnessing the beautiful golds and bronzes as we descend into the dark half of the year and find edible treasures amongst the fallen leaves.

Book Emily for a quiet winter exploration, uncovering the surprising hidden gifts that lie in the cold dormant months. Though the land appears still, there are hardy greens, aromatic evergreens and overlooked edibles waiting to be found. Embrace the crisp air, muted colours, and peaceful beauty of the winter landscape.

Book Emily for a sun-soaked forage through lush meadows and woodland edges at the height of abundance. From fragrant herbs to ripe berries and seasonal wild delicacies, summer is a time of vibrant flavours. Wander the warm pathways and gather edible plants beneath the bright canopy.

Book Emily for a gentle springtime wander as the woods awaken from their winter slumber. Discover tender new shoots, vibrant wild greens, and the first edible blossoms of the year. Learn to identify nature’s early offerings while enjoying the fresh scents and vivid colours that signal the turning of the season.

My foraging walks offer an introduction to the edible and medicinal plants, trees and fungi of each season. Participants are guided through local landscapes while learning to identify species, understand their traditional (general, culinary and medicinal) uses, the folklore surrounding them and how to harvest responsibly. Each walk emphasises practical knowledge and a respectful relationship with the land.

The groups are usually up to 10 people per walk (not including myself) and aim to be two hours long, including some potential tasting activities at the end!

Folk Herbalism Workshops

Folk herbalism workshops offer an introduction to traditional plant knowledge and the practical uses of seasonal herbs for everyday wellbeing. We will first find and forage some ingredients and you will then be guided through the properties, folklore and historical uses of these common wild plants while learning simple preparation methods such as teas, infused oils, balms, tinctures or syrups. Each session emphasises accessible, hands-on learning, seasonal awareness and a respectful relationship with plants and their traditional knowledge.

Groups are usually up to 5-10 people per workshop (not including myself) and aim to be around 1.5-2 hours long, with time to make a sample herbal preparation.

Therapeutic Seasonal Workshops

These workshops offer a creative and reflective space to ponder and express the themes of nature and how they might relate to inner states. We may create artwork or use ritual, poetry and story to do this. These workshops are seasonal and draw on the landscape and its living beings to to look to our relationships with ourselves, others and nature itself. Through this process we learn that we are not separate - even though we may feel disconnected from ourselves, others and nature or our inner natural rhythms and roots, as many of us do in this modern world.

Led by an HCPC-registered Art Psychotherapist, the workshops are informed by therapeutic principles but are not group psychotherapy or clinical art therapy sessions. No previous artistic experience is needed — the focus is on process, curiosity, connection, and creative wellbeing rather than artistic skill or outcome *

Folklore Walks

Step beyond the well-trodden paths and discover the hidden stories of the Peak District. My guided folklore walks explore the landscapes where ancient legends, local traditions, ghost tales, and forgotten history come to life.

Whether you're fascinated by witches, well dressings, mysterious stones, or the myths woven into the hills and valleys, each walk offers a unique blend of storytelling, history, and beautiful scenery. Suitable for curious locals, visitors, families, and groups, my walks invite you to experience the Peak District from a different perspective.

You can join one of my scheduled public walks or book a private experience tailored to your group. Private walks are ideal for families, friends, corporate events, clubs, schools, and special occasions, with routes and themes chosen to suit your interests.

Come and uncover the stories hidden in the landscape, where every path has a tale to tell.
